Game night only works if everyone can make it. A poll finds that evening without a forty-message group chat.
Sam hosts a game night for six friends every few weeks. Each time, the table needs a new evening, and the goal is one that all six can make, settled before everyone's week fills up. Here's how that goes with a poll.

Why a poll beats the group chat
Ask "what night works?" in a chat and you get six answers about six different nights, and the thread moves on before anyone adds them up. A poll turns the same question into a grid: every evening down one side, everyone's answer beside it, and the evening the whole table can make lit up in green.
Nobody installs anything. A guest opens the link, types their name, and taps the evenings that work. It takes about thirty seconds.
Which evenings to offer
- Offer more than you need. The nights your group usually plays, across the next two or three weeks, gives everyone a real choice. You can add an evening to a live poll if none of them land.
- Keep the title plain. "Game night" is enough. The description holds the rest: whose place, what time you start, what to bring.
- Say when you'll decide. A line like "I'll lock in a night on Sunday" gets the votes in before then.
What your players see
One page with the event name, the evenings you offered, and three buttons for each: Works, Maybe, Can't. There's room for a comment if a night is a stretch. Once they've voted, they see how everyone else answered, so the table can already tell which evening is winning.
Locking in the evening
When one evening has the votes, lock it in. The poll link shows the decided date to anyone who opens it, along with a start time if you set one. On Autopilot, we email every player the confirmation, so nobody has to scroll back through the chat to find it.
A table that plays every few weeks
Run the same poll every few weeks. Each one is a new event with its own link, so last month's poll never gets mixed up with this one, and a free poll is free every time. What if someone can't make any of them?
They tap Can't on each evening and say so in a comment. Add another evening to the live poll and send the link round again. If the rest of the table is set, you can also lock in the evening that works for everyone else and plan the next one around them.
